Naturally, we love bubbly in all of its forms. Straight from the bottle works great for us (obviously!) but we also often incorporate it in a range of delicious cocktails because it complements the flavours of so many other drinks.
No great party or get-together is complete without a fantastic cocktail menu and sparkling wine is a key ingredient in all of our favorites. The best thing is that they’re all really easy to mix up yourself at home. You don’t need years of bartending training to whip up these sweet, bubbly treats for you and your friends, so why not give them a go with your bottle of Exigeante?
Mimosa
Perhaps the most famous cocktail made with sparkling wine but it’s a classic for a reason -it’s delicious! The traditional mimosa mixes orange juice with sparkling wine but it’s just as yummy, if you use pineapple, mango or tropical juice. Any sweet citrus flavor goes with bubbles to create a gorgeous, fruity treat.
Simply measure out as much Exigeante sparkling wine as you want, top up the glass with the fruit juice of your choice and garnish it with orange peel or a chunk of pineapple!
Bellini
If you’re making the peach puree yourself, it’s simply a case of putting a few peaches into a food processor until smooth. You can also add either a teaspoon of sugar or a squeeze of lemon juice, depending how sweet or sour your tastes are.
Then it’s a simple case of pouring a measurement of the juice or puree into a sparkling wine glass and topping it up with a healthy dose of Exigeante Brut for example! You can then garnish with a tasty slice of peach -délicieux!
Aperol Spritz
Get a taste of Italy with this tasty bubbly drink that is perfect for a warm summer’s day. Aperol is a sweet, orange-flavored aperitif and it is pretty bitter, if you drink it straight from the bottle. But when you add it to sparkling wine, the magic really happens!
Put some ice in a glass and maybe add a zesty slice of orange before pouring in some Exigeante Brut and Aperol. A splash of club soda on top finishes it off, leaving you with a refreshing citrus treat that could be from the bar of a Milanese café.
French 75
The height of French sophistication, this classic cocktail has its origins all the way back in First World War and there’s a reason it has been around for so long. Its simple, citrus flavor is timeless and it’s perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re throwing a gathering at home or simply want a cheeky lunchtime treat, the French 75 made with Exigeante low sugar sparkling wine is a cocktail that oozes class.
A French 75 uses either gin or cognac, which you can put in a cocktail shaker with ice and a couple of squeezes of lemon juice. Once it’s well shaken, you can pour a measure into a glass before filling it with your favourite Exigeante sparkling wine. Très chic!
St. Germain Elderflower cocktail
Beautiful and unique, this elderflower cocktail is a light, refreshing treat. It pairs delicate floral flavors with the fizz of sparkling wine bubbles -perfect for brunch or dinner outside in the spring. The St. Germain elderflower liqueur is produced in France using artisanal methods and hundreds of freshly picked, tiny white elderflower blossoms. It has a wonderful, aromatic taste and when teamed with our French sparkling wine, a celebration of subtle, clean flavors occurs. You can also use an elderflower cordial, if you want to keep alcohol levels down.
Pour a good measure of both St. Germain liqueur and Exigeante sparkling wine into a glass with ice. Top it up with a dash of club soda, stir it well and add a zest of lemon as a garnish to finish. Magnifique!
